Serenity - the Firefly movie

In 2002 an amazing, and amazingly short-lived, series came to Fox television. Fox beat up, chopped, and spit out this wonderful show. However, the cast, crew, and fans wouldn't let the show die. This poor unassuming serial is called Firefly. If Star Trek (the original series) was considered a "wagon train in space", this new launch of a sci-fi western by Joss Whedon truly captured and remade the theme. Typically the cancellation of a series such as this, with only eleven (of fourteen) episodes aired, would mean the end, but it quite simply isn't. In September of 2005, a movie named for the ship in Firefly was released. Serenity is available on Amazon in classic and now a collector's edition, each have excellent special features.

The screenplay should be available in paperback around the time of the film's release. Beg, borrow or buy a copy of the Firefly series, and get caught up on what you've missed so far. Once you're all caught up, check out the three part graphic novel covering the time between the series and the movie. Finally, don't forget to cast a vote for Serenity at IMDb once the movie has been released, especially if you are a current member in good standing.
